The 5 Best Salt Lake City Clubs
Sep 23 , 2011
The emerging club scene in Salt Lake City is catching up to the rest of the nation, now that law allows for consumption of alcoholic beverages without a private membership. The Salt Lake City clubs are bringing it, serving it up, and dishing it out.
1. Inferno Cantina
Top-shelf tequila + weekend + dance floor = dance club party at Inferno Cantina. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, DJs transform this authentic Mexican restaurant and tequila bars into one of the Salt Lake City's hottest dance clubs. The club is located in downtown SLC near the Arrow Press Square Shopping Center, surrounded by several restaurants, bars, and downtown hotels. If it gets too hot inside the cantina, take a breather on the terrace, and watch Salt Lake City's nightlife wander through the street.
2. The Hotel/Elevate
What do you get when you combine a wall-size video screen, neon lighting accents, fully loaded bar, a kick-ass DJ, and loads of young people? The Hotel/Elevate. This Salt Lake City club offers three levels of bar space with plenty of space to dance, hang out with friends, and meet new people. The third floor, called the Opium Lounge, has a hookah bar, comfortable chairs, and a full service cocktail bar. Not only is there an outdoor party terrace, but intimate VIP areas are found throughout this 32,000 square foot party haven.
3. Harry O's
This Salt Lake City Club is the number one destination to all the young and famous that come to the city for the Sundance Film Festival. The upscale club hosts some of the biggest names in the music industry – some of the past acts include 50 Cent and Nas. On dance club nights, top-shelf DJs spin some of the sickest music to keep the crowd happy and keep the action going. Harry O's is elegant and classy – be sure to dress to impress.
4. Green Street Social Club
The bottom floor at Green Street Social Club is a sports pub and restaurant with great food and pool tables, with the game on the big screen and live acoustic music on weekend evenings. Quaint outdoor seating allows patrons to enjoy the energy of the downtown area. The second floor is a high-action dance club. The dance floor opens up Wednesday through Sunday, with different themes each night, including karaoke, top 40 hits, and rock music to dance to.
5. Area 51
The slogan for this Salt Lake City club is, "always a freak show" and the club consistently hits the bar it has set for itself. On 80s night, the club pumps up the volume to new wave, 80s pop, and classic pop music. On Alterna-Mash nights, you can get your freak on to all of today's danceable alternative music as well as a few techno beats. And on Friday nights, you'll get a little bit of everything. Area 51 becomes a bit of an adult Halloween party once a month during its Fetish Ball – be there, or be square.
